Cowbridge: So much to see...
Thursday, 05 April 2012

The friendly town with the complete shopping experience!
THE wonderful weather earlier this week heralds what will be a momentous few months in the history of Cowbridge.
Next month, the second Cowbridge Book Festival will be held, three months later the National Eisteddfod and thousands of visitors arrive – and by October the town will have a new Waitrose store giving the town a huge commercial boost.
The chairman of the Chamber of Trade, Alun John, said: “The fact that we’ve started to get some lovely weather makes for a more vibrant atmosphere and people in Cowbridge are looking forward to enjoying the spring and summer months – you can feel the buzz.
“Soon the book festival is going to be held and later in the summer we hope to be welcoming many visitors from the National Eisteddfod.
“Both events are an opportunity for the town’s businesses and shops to showcase what they have to offer the public.”
The book festival is an illustration of how one event can spark ‘spin-offs’ over the same period of time – this year Cowbridge Amateur Dramatic Society (CADS) is presenting ‘The Squire of Gadshill’ in the Market Theatre on Saturday, May 12, the Chamber of Trade is planning a ‘guess the book’ trail around the town and Dick Tonkin of the Historical Society will give guided walks round local sites of note.
