Belle Vue won a very close game, 75-68, against Maesteg Welfare in the Carruthers Shield, with two rinks winning, two losing and played in lovely, sunny conditions.
Rink one lost 17-18 in a very close game.
Lead was Mike Owens, no 2 Dave Smith, no 3 Dave Miller and skip was Captain Malcom Thomas.
Rink two lost 16-21; lead was Gerry Field, no 2 Paul Booth, no 3 Len Fowler and skip was Dave Purser.
Rink three was another close game – nip and tuck all the way but Belle Vue edged it in the end 20-17. Lead was Dave Bradley, no 2 Gordon Ford, no 3 Richard Brant and skip was Trevor Ford.
Rink four had a very good win: 22-12. Lead was Graham Duggan, no 2 Frank Keen, no 3 was Paul Patterson and our skip was Colin Scammell.

Belle Vue then lost against Barry Central in a very close Munro Cup game 69-75, two rinks winning, two losing; points 4 for Belle Vue, 10 for Barry Central.
Rink one lost 22-23; lead was Richard Fitzjohn, no 2 Dave Smith, no 3 Dave Miller and skip was Malcom Thomas.
Rink two won 23-21, another close rink. Lead was Mike Owens, no 2 was sub Dave Rappitt, no 3 John ?Whitfield and skip was Dave Runser.
Rink three won in another close rink 15-14; lead was Frank Keen (captain) no 2 Gordon Ford, no 3 Colin Scammell and skip was Len Fowler.
Rink four lost 9-17 but they played one player light. Lead was Dave Bradley, no 3 Richard Brant and skip was Trevor Ford.
